Work in the schedule table

Spread every dated task across one spreadsheet-like table, then group, filter and sort it.

Applies to Web · Mac · iPhone app

The Table view lists the tasks on your calendar one row each. The month grid shows when things happen; the table shows what state each task is in and how much is left. When you edit text, dates or status in the table, the original line in the note changes. No copies are made.

Open the Table view

  1. Open Calendar from the sidebar.
  2. In Calendar view on the toolbar, click Table. The title changes to Schedule table.
  3. Under Table hierarchy, choose the main layout: By task, By date, By status or By note.

Group, filter and sort

ToolChoices
Group+ Add group nests up to two levels (Level 1, Level 2). When grouping by a date, pick Daily, Monthly or Yearly as the unit. You can also Reorder groups, remove one with the × on its chip, Expand all / Collapse all, or Ungroup.
StatusAll or a single status
Related peopleAll related people, or one person
DateAll, Overdue, Today, This month, Undated
SortDate ascending or descending, content, status, note, people, done state, created time (oldest or newest first), or most recently added
SearchType in Search content, notes, or people…. Only matching rows stay, with a count such as “3 of 20 match”.

Filtering on a custom property column adds fields for that property’s condition and value. Clear filters removes them all at once. Group rows also show Progress or a done count such as “Done 3/8”.

Work with columns

  • Drag a column’s move handle (⠿), or use the left and right arrow keys, to reorder it.
  • Drag a column edge to resize it; double-click the edge to reset. With the edge focused, ←/→ (with Shift for bigger steps) also resize.
  • Click a column name to open its menu: Filter, Sort, Group, Calculation, Pin, Hide, Wrap content, Show as:, Insert left / Insert right, Duplicate and Delete property.
  • Use Add a property on the toolbar to Create property, Add existing property, Restore default properties or Reset view. For property types and editing statuses, see Manage tasks with statuses and properties.
Delete property only removes the column from this view; the original tasks stay. A table can have up to 32 columns.

Edit and add from the table

  • Editing a content cell changes the text of that line in the note. Editing the date cell replaces the date expression at the end of the line (including words like @next fri). If the expression sits in the middle of the text instead, it can’t be replaced safely, and the table asks you to edit the @ expression in the content cell.
  • Pick dates in the start and end cells, or use Add end date to make a range. The end can’t be earlier than the start.
  • Click a note title to open the note. The delete button at the end of a row removes that line from the note after you confirm.
  • Type in New item content… at the bottom of the table and pick a date to add an item to the 📅 Calendar note. If you pick a date there, leave @ expressions out of the text.

Table appearance

Use Table settings on the table toolbar to change Table text size and Table row spacing (the outer frame keeps its size). The same settings are under View options → Calendar table. Column order, widths, hidden columns and grouping are saved in the browser (device) you’re using, so set them up separately on each device.
