By signing up for or using CommonNote you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not sign up or start a paid subscription.
1. Operator
CommonNote is operated by Jae Yoon Sung (k2dydwl@gmail.com). Paid plans sold on the web are sold, billed and taxed by our merchant of record, Paddle (depending on your location: Paddle.com Inc. in the US, Paddle.com (Canada) Ltd. in Canada, Paddle.com Market Ltd elsewhere); for those purchases Paddle is the seller.
2. Accounts and workspaces
Accounts open once you sign up and confirm your email (the operator may choose to require approval). Use an accurate email and keep your sign-in details safe. Team workspace owners manage invitations, seats and billing; a team with active members cannot be deleted before ownership is transferred. You must be 14 or older.
3. Records and acceptable use
Upload only content you have the right to use. Illegal material, malware, automation that disrupts other accounts or the Service, security circumvention and harassment are prohibited; we may hide such content or restrict the account. You can report abusive content or users and block them in the app. You (or, in a team workspace, the organisation) own your records; we store and transmit them only as needed to run the Service. For continuity, research records may remain in a team workspace after account deletion, and author or assignee marks inside those notes may still show your original username (we remove them on request).
4. Subscriptions, renewal and cancellation
- Paid plans renew automatically for the period and price shown.
- Unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends, the next period may be charged.
- Cancel web subscriptions in Manage billing & invoices, and App Store subscriptions in your Apple account settings.
- After cancelling you keep access until the end of the paid period.
5. Withdrawal and refunds
Paddle is the seller of web purchases, so withdrawal and refunds follow Paddle's refund policy and applicable law. Consumers in the Republic of Korea may withdraw within 7 days of payment (Article 17 of the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce and Paddle's refund policy), and nothing in these terms reduces rights that law or Paddle's policy guarantees. Request a refund through your Paddle receipt or at k2dydwl@gmail.com. Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases.
6. Downgrades and ended subscriptions
Existing files are never deleted automatically when you are over the limit. New attachment uploads may pause until you are back under it; reading, exporting and deleting keep working.
7. Changes to the Service and these terms
We may change or temporarily suspend features for security, legal or operational reasons. We announce changes to these terms on this page and in News 7 days before they take effect (30 days if unfavourable to you), and by email where needed. If we ever shut the Service down we will give at least 30 days' notice and keep full export available.
8. Liability
CommonNote is a tool for writing and collaborating; it does not replace legal, regulatory or scientific validation. Except for intent or gross negligence, and to the extent the law allows, we limit liability for indirect damages and for losses caused by not keeping your own backups.
9. App Store
Apps downloaded from the Apple App Store are also governed by Apple's standard licence agreement. Where payment or refund terms conflict, Apple's terms prevail.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. We will first try to resolve disputes in good faith; litigation goes to the court with jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act. Consumers may also seek mediation from bodies such as the Korea Consumer Agency.
